What Is Ping
Ping measures round-trip time for data packets. It is measured in milliseconds. Lower is better. Ping matters most for gaming, video calls, and any real-time online activity. High ping means delay between your action and the server response.
Understanding Results
Results show minimum, average, and maximum latency. Watch the variance. Big swings mean unstable connection. Packet loss above 0% is bad. Even small loss causes problems for real-time apps.
What Is a Good Ping
0-20ms is excellent for competitive gaming. 20-50ms is great. 50-100ms is average. 100-200ms is noticeable lag. Anything above 200ms makes real-time apps nearly unusable.
How to Fix High Ping
Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. Close bandwidth-heavy apps. Change your DNS to a faster provider. Restart your router. Use our DNS speed test to find the fastest DNS for your connection.
